Mothers Day -late

Its been a while. Lots of things are happening and lots of things on my mind. I still cannot believe that it is already the end of May. Time flies by so fast and I wish days would last as long as they seemed when I was younger. That way I could soak up every minute I have with my kids at this age. They are so much fun and I LOVE being a mom. Although I wont win the mother of the year award anytime soon, I am learning more about myself daily and more about how to enjoy the small things. Everything that seems big right now, will turn into just a small portion of lifes lessons learned.
Mothers Day this year was a crazy busy one. We started out at our own ward where we were given gifts made by a great lady in our ward. (although she didn't want the recognition for making them) I thought it was a nice gesture since our ward hasn't done gifts for the mothers since I moved in 3 years ago.

After church we went to Brets parents house and had our half (only half because we didn't go to the park) "gentile Sunday" where we ate KFC. I am not a big KFC fan, except for the coleslaw, but their grilled chicken is really good and I highly recommend trying it if you haven't. Although Laura and I don't always see eye to eye, I love her and am grateful for the part she plays in my life. I am so glad that she raised a son who is kind, caring, compassionate, loving, giving, hard working and a great husband and dad. I am grateful for her testimony of the gospel and her passion for it. I love her strong will and get it done attitude. She is very service oriented and is always helping others. I know she would say that it is because its part of her calling, but I know that she would willingly serve anyone who is need of help. She is crafty and SO very creative. Holidays are always full of fun and lots of traditions.

It was then off to my moms house, where we sat outside and then had a BBQ. I love my mom she knows it too. My mom is my best friend, She is a great friend to everyone know matter who they are or what their circumstance. If you know my mom, you love her. She is friendly and caring, giving, understanding and has a very strong testimony. She is always listening the the spirit and following what it is saying. We used to joke about my mom being able to relate a bowl of spaghetti the gospel. I am grateful for my mom and her teaching me right from wrong and knowing how to fix my mistakes. I am grateful for her always being able to make my feel beautiful and giving me self confidence. She never once told me I was too fat, not pretty enough, not smart enough, not talented enough. To her I am perfect in every way. I hope that I will be able to raise my children to know that as well.
I almost forgot to brag about the gifts we made our moms. I got the idea from the best magazine ever "Family Fun" (ps if you would like a subscription let me know and we both get 2 years for DIRT cheap) They are called Pizza's To-Grow. I wish I would have taken a picture, but it turned out super cute with plants for each of them to grow their own things to make a pizza. The pizza box had holes cut out for each plant to go in oregano, tomato, onion, pepper plants with hand made "flour" finished it up. Each one also got a certificate saying they get one friday night with us to make homemade pizza.
This year for mothers day I got flowers for the yard and plants for the garden (hopefully we will be living her long enough to reap the benefits of the pants we are growing)

Being a mother is something that can only be described and understood from one mother to another. It brings heartache yet happiness, sadness yet joy, disappointment but excitement. It is the most rewarding difficult job ever. I am so thankful for the moms in my life and to be a mom myself. It really is the best job in the world.
