So this is Christmas!

Wow! It sure is amazing how time flies around the holidays! I sure hope that everyone had a wonderful Christmas and that they were able to spend time with family and friends.

The 3 Wise Guys
On Christmas Eve, the Duehlmeier's had their annual Christmas party. Doug and Susan host it every year and they always do such a wonderful job. Despite the crazy snow storm everyone made it there safely, some earlier than others. After we all fed our tummies, we had a special visit from the 3 wise guys who brought gifts to all the unmarried grandchildren and great-grandchildren in the family. This year Bret was able to play one of the Wise Guys. McKinley was so funny sitting on his lap. You could tell she recognized the voice, but not the face. But most importantly she didn't cry. (Santa wasn't the best experience) It was fun to be there with the family hear the Christmas Story, and sing Christmas Songs.

McKinley and Dad the Wise guy again

This year for Christmas Bret and I decided that we wanted to do things a little differently and much to both our parents disliking, we had Christmas for the first time since we've been married at our house first. (usually we haven't opened the gifts we got for each other until about 4 or 5) Although it was very different for both of us, it was nice to be able to do things the way we wanted to do them.

McKinley with her Maraca

McKinley surprisingly enough actually liked the toys we got her more than the wrapping paper boxes and bows. Bret got me my weight set I wanted and I got Bret anatomy flash cards for his i-pod. It was a lot of fun to see McKinley's face when she opened her gifts.. the smile was tattooed on her face for almost 3 days until the lack of sleep finally kicked in.

McKinley and her blocks

Later that afternoon we went to my parents house to open gifts and to talk to Spence. It was really nice to hear his voice and his laugh again. I almost had forgotten what it sounded like. It made me that much more excited to have him coming home in just a couple weeks.

Mom and McKinley

After that we made our way over to Bret's mom and dads. We had made a deal that we would sleep over and open gifts at their house the next day. It was SO nice to be able to do it that way. I really felt like we were able to spend the amount of time we had wanted to spend with them every Christmas without being rushed from one house to the next. Mike and Robyn showed up a bit later and brought the Wii! We had a blast building our characters, playing tennis, baseball, and guitar hero.
Laura and Jay playing Tennis

Mike laughing at Jay and Laura's attempt to play tennis

Christmas this year was really nice, the best part though was that we were able to spend a lot of time with our families and that Bret was able to have the WHOLE week off of work! (hurray for left over vacation days)

Oh I almost forgot... We also told our parents our big news... We are going to be having another baby! Although it was a bit unexpected and I cried the first month I knew everytime I thought about it, I am finally ready to tell people. McKinley and the next baby will be 17 months apart. I always said I wanted my kids to be close in age, but not this close. But now we don't have a choice and we are getting excited to have another baby. The biggest thing I have learned this year... Sometimes YOUR plan isn't HIS plan. Now we pray for a healthy baby.

Nose Picker

A long time ago (earlier this fall) Bret and I were playing around with Robyn's camera at one of Jayson's football games. Robyn finally got around to downloading everything to a disk for us and I was so glad to get all the pictures and video of all of us. There is one video of Bret that was on the disk that makes me laugh every time I see it, so I told Bret that I was going to post it.... I hope you all think it is as funny as I do.

Family Matters

Yesterday Robyn (my sis in law) and I went to Layton to pick up a few things for Christmas and we were able to visit a little while with Kelli (Brets cousin) and her kids. Kelli's little girl Karlee, is 4months older than McKinley, but they seriously look like they could be sisters. Since McKinley was born I have always told everyone about how much the two of them look alike. But now that they are getting older, they look even more alike. Yesterday while we were there, they both pulled the same smiley face at the same time. It was a crack up! I took a picture of Karlee and decided that I would post it up here next to a picture of McKinley just to see what you all think too.

The King Singers

Yesterday was the day that my family (the Forman side) and I look forward to every year at this time. We were able to go to the Mormon Tabernacle Choirs Christmas Concert. This year they had the King Singers.

This of course for me brought back SO many memories of choir in high school. If you haven't heard of them I recommend checking out their website. They are absolutely amazing and I really enjoyed myself. They sang O Holy Night with the men in the Tab, and it was the most beautiful version of that song I have EVER heard. Bret thought that I was crazy to be so ecstatic about hearing them sing live. It was well worth the huge crowds, walking in the freezing cold and even paying a babysitter.

Just a side note, Spencer comes home in 32 more days!!!!

Winter Blast

Bret in grandams backyard after shoveling

I guess its time that I update the blog. Things have been so crazy around here lately.
Mckinley now has 4 teeth. That is 4 teeth in 15days too. She has been a real trooper though. She thinks that she is a big girl and needs to eat mom and dads food instead of her own. I tried to feed her the apricots that she used to absolutely devour, and she shook her head as if to tell me no and pointed to my plate. It was cute and funny but at moments like that I have to remember to keep a straight face.
Friday night our neighbors moved out. It was sad to see them go. I really am going to miss them. Its funny how attached you get to your neighbors. Because we live in a duplex, its almost like a part of the house is missing now. I am happy for them though. They bought a house.... man... one day we will be able to have one too.. I know it.
Our street on Friday night was packed. Between the neighbors moving and everyone helping them, and the Cox party going on over at grandma's no one had any room to park. So Bret and I decided to take advantage of the time and little space and left to do some Christmas shopping. When we left our house, it was raining. We went to eat and by the time we were done it had started to snow CRAZY snow! As much as I love snow its different driving in it now that I have McKinley. I totally trust Bret and his driving (he served his mission in Alaska... he should know how to drive in the snow) I just don't trust everyone else out on the road. so driving home was a little crazy. By the time we had finished shopping and eating and got home, we had 3 inches of snow!

The front of Grandmas house with all the snow

Saturday morning we woke up and I went with Bret to go pick up the food donations from around the ward. I think everyone forgot to donate because of the snow. When we got home we started shoveling and blowing all the sidewalks. I took a few pictures this time too, so you can see the amounts of snow we had.

McKinley and I in front of our house
When we got in from shoveling, our power went out. So we changed our clothes and went out to get the rest of the Christmas shopping done. When we were out, Bret surprised me with what he wanted to get me for Christmas, a little puppy. He is SO cute. He is half yorkie half maltese. He shouldn't get bigger than 5lbs. We named him Dash cause when we got home and I let him down he took off like a wild dog and ran around our coffee table about 7 times before finally stopping. I still need to take some pictures of him. He is so little and black that I think I need to wait for him to get bigger before you will be able to tell that it is a dog.
Anyway, our power was off for the rest of the day and well into the night. When we went to bed our house of 53 degrees. I called the power company because our neighbors power line had snapped from the weight of the snow and the boy who lives there said no one had called it in. I figured that he was just joking around, but he wasn't. The line had snapped about 11 and when I called at 9 that night, no one had even called it in. So I was mad at my stupid neighbors for my house being cold. If they would have called it in when it happened, maybe we would have had power sooner. The power did finally come on about 4 in the morning. I was so greatful to the men who work for the power company I could have ran out in my pjs and gave them all a huge hug. Bret told me I couldn't do it.

looking down our street.. I think you can even see the broken power line too.

This week bret is finally done with finals, he took his last one today. Its sure going to be nice having him around the house again!!! At least for a few more weeks.

Let it Snow!

I was planning on taking pictures, but it didn't happen. I have never been more excited for snow in my life!
Friday night Bret and I went to see Enchanted (I LOVED it! I recommend it to everyone) As the rain was falling I was so sad, I thought that the news people had my hopes up again for lots of snow and that all we were going to get was rain. We got home fairly late (around 11) and it was still raining when we went to bed. Saturday morning when I woke up to McKinley singing to herself in her room, I thought I should check just to see if it did snow. I really was so nervous to open the blinds in fear that my hopes would be shattered at the mere fact that there was going to be no snow. I slowly opened the curtains and to my surprise there was about 4" of snow in my front yard. I started dancing and singing and jumping on the bed. Bret was not excited about my dancing, singing and jumping as I was though. I got McKinley out of bed, and we sang Christmas songs and danced around the front room with the Christmas tree lights on. It was almost like Christmas morning. I opened all the blinds and curtains in the house and watched in amazement as the snow fell almost all day. Luckily Bret was able to get his grandpa's snow blower working so we didn't have to shovel anything but the stairs for grandmas, us and the neighbors house. Even if we did end up shoveling, I dont think that I would have been too disappointed about doing it. I was SO excited about actually having snow, that I would have done the whole street if someone asked me to. They say that we are supposed to get snow again on Wednesday and on Saturday. I really hope that is the case!!!!
I sure love the SNOW!!

Long weekend!

Where to start... Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday. I can remember when I was younger it was guaranteed that my grandpa and grandma Reading would fly in to Utah and spend Thanksgiving weekend with my family. I loved my grandpa and grandma coming into town and always enjoyed the time spent with them. Since both of them are gone now, Thanksgiving always has a bitter sweetness. I still feel the same excitement yet, its not quite the same anymore.

This year was my families year to eat with and because everyone on that side of the family is planning on coming into town for Spencer's homecoming, they all did something else this year. Which just left my mom, dad and Anna at home. My mom told me that Bret and I should just eat with Brets family and they would go to Golden Corral. Of course when my mother-in-law heard this, she invited them to eat dinner with the Duehlmeier side of the family. My parents accepted and I was lucky enough to get to eat with both sets of parents. Coming from a small family who is spread out from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean, I always am a little overwhelmed when Brets (Duehlmeier side) of the family gets together. I think the last time I counted there are 63 Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Cousins Spouses and their children on the 'D' side. Even though not all of them were there for dinner this year, it sure made for a good dinner with lots of family. I always said I wanted to marry into a big family and I did get a BIG family. When we get together it is a little too much like 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding'.

McKinley and I after finding our Christmas Tree

On Friday, I usually spend that day (or morning) shopping with my mom. We always have started out at Smiths Marketplace for their half off socks sale. This year though, I passed on getting up early. Well kinda... This year we all (Brets family) had the day after off so we could go cut down our Christmas tree. I don't want to go into much detail but its a tradition that Brets mom has now done for 30 Years! We go up to Heber and get our tree permits at the beginning of November and then we plan a day as a family to go cut them down. This year was quite an adventure. My father-in-law took a different route and we followed him up this hill (thank goodness there was no snow) All the way up I was wondering if he was planning on all of us taking home a quaker, because there were NO pine trees. As we got to the top there were very few trees to choose from and the wind was SO bitter cold. But we all got dressed and went out. I think this was the year that we all got our best trees yet.

Our Tree and us (see hardly and other trees in the background)

Our tree decorated

Saturday as most of you know was The "Holy War" UofU vs BYU. And as I am sure many of you know, our blood in this family is Blue. We watched the game on the inlaws big screen (I only wish it was in HD) It wasn't the most exciting game until the last two minutes. When I saw Max Hall let go of the ball of 4th and 18, I think that my heart stopped beating. When the ball was caught we all were jumping up and down and screaming! The final score 17-10 BYU! GO COUGARS!!!

Random Things

I thought that if I put my journal on the computer it would be easier to write.... then life happens.
There are a few random things that I wanted to write about here and I even took pictures. I will post the pics as soon as I get a chance to download them to to computer.

Bret, McKinley and me at High School Musical
First random thing...
Bret and I were at home being lazy Monday night when some people from the ward stopped by and asked us if we would like 'High School Musical' tickets. Bret who is not really a fan of HSM wasn't too thrilled other than the fact it was at East High. (his old school, didn't graduate from there, but he did go there) So with only an hour to get there and seated, we packed up and left. Surprisingly McKinley did really well through the whole thing until the very end, she was SO tired that she just kept moving all over and wouldn't sit still. As for the musical, it was pretty good. I didn't really like the guy that played Troy. He didn't sing the right note once through the whole musical, but because the band/orchestra was so loud, he couldn't hear himself singing. I am giving him the benefit of the doubt. I don't really think that the drama and music teachers would have picked someone who didn't sing well to play the main character, for this once in a lifetime opportunity. Anyway it was good and we had fun.

McKinley crawling officially!
2nd random thing...
McKinley is now officially crawling. Its funny to watch her because she does half 'fish' (pull herself with her hands and kicks with her feet with her stomach still on the ground) and half on her hands and knees. Since she has found her knees she has found a new sense of courage and is pulling herself up on everything. She even tried to pull herself out of the tub. Not good. The other day I left to answer the phone and to write down a few numbers and she had found her way over to her box of baby wipes, opened it and started pulling wipes out one at a time... I took a picture of the mess I came back to. I will post it later.

The glorious mess McKinley left with baby wipes

McKinley and Bret Ice skating
3rd random thing...
The young men and young women in are ward went ice skating for their activity this week. This was Bret's turn to plan, so I needing a change of scenery, went along. Bret took McKinley around and it was fun to see her reaction to the ice. After Bret took her on the ice, I had to keep removing her from it. I was very afraid someone would come around the corner and not see her and sever a finger or something. Anyway, there are some boys that are not members who's parents allow them to come as long as there isn't anything extremely churchy. One of the boys is a 'know it all' and thinks he is an expert at everything including ice skating. After seeing him skate around just once I knew that he was going to hurt himself. And sure enough, he did. He face planted it! When he turned around to smile I could see that he was missing a tooth and bleeding from his chin. So, one chipped tooth and a chin that needed stitches later, we left. Bret was just SICK! On the way home he made the comment 'it couldn't happen to a member, and then people wonder why nonmembers dont come to church' A fun activity ended sour. :(
Jordan with his half missing tooth and cut chin (click on it to see it really well)

4th Random thing...
This weekend is our anniversary. I will write about that after the weekend of craziness is over. And what better way to spend it then by going to a wedding? Mike (cousin from the Kettenring side) and ReBecca are getting married tomorrow in the Bountiful Temple. They are going through today to get their endowments taken out and for the first time since I was pregnant with McKinley I am going to the Temple. I hate that I haven't gone in so long and I am really looking forward to going today. So I am already preparing myself for the load of other random things that will happen to me while trying to get ready. Its funny how you have something planned like this and how everything that could go wrong does. Hopefully this morning will run smoothly.

When I get a minute or two today, I will post the pictures that I wanted to. But that might be later rather than sooner.

Tag you're it!

I was Tagged by Christy, she said that this is fun so I am giving it a shot.

The rules of the game should be posted at the beginning of the post. Each player lists 6 facts/habits about themselves. At the end of the post, the player then tags 6 people and posts their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know that they have been tagged and asking them to read your blog.

1. I love being a mom. No one can ever prepare you for what is to come when you have a child. Your whole life changes. Although it was the hardest thing I have ever done, it is for sure the most rewarding. There are times that McKinley smiles just at the right moment, I think that she knows if she doesn't drop a big one, then her mom would sell her on the black market. (just kidding, but all mom's understand that feeling) Not only do I love being a mom, I loved being pregnant. There is just something about being able to feel another being inside of you. Its such a miraculous feeling that is indescribable, yet so beautiful.

McKinley and Mom a few months ago

2. I am obsessed with EFY. Since I was 12 I had always been a participant down and BYU in the week long camp. I love the music, I love the people there, and most of all I loved all of my counselors. I always knew that I wanted to be one. 2 years after high school I applied to be a counselor, I was the only one of my friends that applied that got the job. I have to say that was by far my favorite summer. I spent 7 weeks playing around like I was a teenager again, and basking in the spirit too. I miss it and still wish that I could do it every year. I love everything about it, the kids, the music, the dances, the games, the classes, the spirit, the fun... should I keep going?!?!? Even though I can't do it anymore, I still go out and buy that years CD and listen to it all the time in my car. It brings back all of those years memories and such a great feeling!

3. I LOVE football. My mother-in-law often asks me how I came to be such a big football fan since growing up in my parents house we weren't allowed to watch sports on Sundays. I think it might have had something to do with the fact I wasn't allowed to, so when I moved out, I watched it because I could. In high school I always enjoyed attending the weekly games and the social aspect of football. When Bret and I went on our first date, there was an arena football game going on and I asked if he minded if we watched the game. He knew from there on out that I was going to be the girl with his heart. Football is always on in our home. Monday night, Thursday night, Friday night, all day Saturday and Sunday when we get home from church. When this fall came around I woke up one morning and said to Bret "can you smell it?... its football season!" oh and I am a HUGE Y fan!! GO COUGARS!!!

Bret and me at a Y game last year for our anniversary
4. I love watching the Disney Channel. Growing up my parents were very strict with what we watched on TV. They had a HUGE list of things that we weren't allowed to watch. So since I was young I always had a pretty good discernment for what was good on TV. I am the same with movies too. I love all the silly, cheesy, predictable movies and have no sex, violence, swearing etc. So if you were to visit my house and turn the TV on, you would most likely find that it was on the Disney Channel. Hannah Montana, Thats so Raven, and Phil of the Future are among my favorites.

5. I like Christy, love to sing. I am quite proud of my choir nerd reputation I had in high school too. I love singing and always have. In high school I was aways busy with choir things. My solo my senior year even went to State. After high school, I haven't been in a choir other than ward choir. But I have had the opportunity of singing many solo's for funeral's, church, firesides and other events. My biggest audience so far has been 1600! I am even trying out for Kurt Bestors 'best singer search' Its this week so keep your fingers crossed for me!

Winter last year at our house. I was 7 months preggers

6. I love the snow and hate the heat! Everyone gets very excited about the summer. I, on the other hand, dread it. I am not the happiest person when I am hot, so as you can only imagine, summer is not my favorite. I do love the winter though. I love being cold and snuggling up to Bret to get warm. I love to watch the snow fall outside my big front window. I love the lights and the music, the laughter and the hot coco. I love the sound of the water splashing underneath the cars that drive by. I love to see my breath when I walk outside. I love shoveling snow and how cold my toes get after doing it. I love hiking the mountain to cut down our Christmas tree. I love getting out my blanket, sitting on the couch and reading a good book, with nothing but the sound of my cat playing with the ornaments on the tree, the lights from the tree reflect off the window. And I love the warmth of the winter season, it always makes me smile!

The 'cold' blues

Man, I really don not like the cold season! It has been quite a while since I have had a case of the really bad cold. But this week, I got it. Not only did I get, I passed the slimy germ onto McKinley. She is such a trooper... even though she wakes up every hour in the night. I could tell that she wasn't really feeling very well when she didn't like to lay flat on her back because she couldnt breathe. But I had no idea that it would ever get this bad. The last two nights, she has slept in our bedroom, and she has had diarrhea for the last 14 hours. Last night in a panic I called my mom (moms have the answers for everything right?) she said that it might be because she is getting teeth. So I stuck my finger in her mouth and felt around, I couldn't feel anything so I called my neighbor to see if she could feel something (she has 3 kids) So she came over and felt around in McKinley's mouth... nothing. So she then called her friend who is a pharmacist to see if there was anything we could give her. The recent recall of Children's cold medicine has really put a damper in helping McKinley at least be comfortable. Luckily Jill (my neighbor) had over the counter children's sudafed, and Melanie told her the right amount that McKinley can have. Along with that I ran to the store to pick up some pedialite to help with McKinley's diarrhea. After all of this McKinley finally calmed down enough to go to sleep. Ehw! Its amazing how I totally forget that I am just as sick as she is until she is sleeping. I am Exhausted. I then give myself some cold medicine and quickly fall asleep. Two hours later McKinley wakes up and is screaming... and that is about the way it went until around 6 when Bret couldn't handle it any longer and got up changed her diaper (which was messy) and tried to hold her so she would go back to sleep. I then get up because his valiant efforts aren't working so well and decide to call the on-call doc. He tells me that I need to only give her pedialite and if she seems hungry to give her banana's or rice cereal. No Formula. After about an two hours of trying to get McKinley to drink more , she is refusing. Luckily the Dr's office was open so I called her doc and she told me the complete opposite of what the on-call doc told me. I felt horrible! Banana's, Vanilla yougart, Applesauce, Rice, toast and Formula for the next 48 hours. No baby wipes, warm wash clothes, bag balm not diaper rash cream and if her dirty diapers dont start to decrease in to see the dr. tomorrow. I begged Bret to stay home with me today. Not so much for McKinley but for me. I am still sick too... I want to sleep, I want to curl up in a ball and not do anything all day, I want someone to take care of me. Reality has set in, I am a mom now, there is no time for me to be sick. I fed McKinley some fresh banana's and gave her some formula, she finally has smiled for the first time since yesterday afternoon. Maybe she will nap, so I can too.

Does McKinley really look like mom, NO!

So everyone that I know always talks about how much McKinley looks like her dad. Rarely do I get anyone to ever tell me she looks like me. Although I really don't care if she looks like her dad, I mean I married him I must think he is attractive, I do wish sometimes people would say she looks like me and actually mean it.
I was playing around on the internet this morning and I found this... and it says that McKinley looks more like me. YEPEE!!!
anyway I am up for hearing what you guys all think. And yes I do know that she looks WAY more like her dad!

Halloween Boo!

The whole family visiting G-pa Ket, after trunk-or-treating

I know that just about everyone blogging is going to be putting up pictures of their kids that they think are the cutest. But this year I think McKinley won the cutest baby in a Halloween costume award! Not only did she love the outfit but all of the attention that it brought with it! Here are just a few pictures.

McDuck (as my dad calls her)

McKinley and mom just before leaving to go trunk-or-treating

The night before Bret and I wanted to carve pumpkins, his aunt and uncle grow a very big garden every year, along with extremely big pumpkins. This year we decided to get one of their pumpkins and carve it. Here is the end result... I will post the picture with McKinley inside the pumpkin so you can have a better understanding of how big this pumpkin really was!

Park City Weekend

Mom and McKinley playing in the pool

Bret's family for as many years as I know has always gone on vacation on the weekend of UEA. So as tradition allows, we went to Park City to spend the weekend, kick back and relax. McKinley got to go swimming for the first time too. It was a really nice weekend that was not packed with running errands, and free from cleaning and teaching in church. I thought that I would post some pictures of our weekend.

Dad and McKinley posing for a picture

The Pool was FREEZING! so McKinley didn't last very long. I still think she wasn't quite sure if she liked it or not. But we still had a lot of fun with her.

McKinley playing in front of the mirror
Our room had this awesome closet mirror that went from top to bottom. McKinley was so funny to watch when we put her in front of it. She talked to her 'friend' in the mirror and even kissed her. It was the cutest ever!

Waving at her 'friend'

Puckering up!

Kisses to her 'friend'

Sunday morning after some more swimming, we all went back to our rooms to get packed up and ready for the day. McKinley had a pretty exciting weekend and was lucky to go almost all day Saturday without a nap ;) After her shower and getting almost dressed she fell asleep in mid-crawl to escape from the bed. Bret and I laughed at her and of course took some pictures.

The Stove

Well, I did it again. This time Bret told me that I need to be a little more careful when cooking. I don't know if any of you have the same problem, but if you do will you please let my husband know so he doesn't think he married the dumbest person alive (I hope he really doesn't think that already!)
O.k. so here is the story...
Yesterday I was making lunch, McKinley was getting ready to go down for a nap (yeah, yeah, excuses.. excuses) so I was feeding her and I got out a pan, put the pan on the burner, and put everything in there I needed, then turned the burner on. Well, after putting McKinley down, I went back to the stove and the water wasnt boiling yet. I thought it was kinda odd seeming the burner was on high and I was at least gone for 10+ minutes. I looked down to see if the burner was on and noticed that something was extremely red. I then lifted the pan off the of burner and realized that I had left the burner cover on! It was smoking, purple and black with a red shiny middle. I grabbed the closest hot pad and lifted it up when the hot pad started on fire. I started blowing on the hot pad while still holding onto the burner cover and ran to the sink and turned the water on not remembering that if you turn the water on something that is really hot it will boil and bounce everywhere! I am just glad that I am here to tell the story and that I still have a house!
Maybe for Christmas this year I will get new stainless steal burner covers! That was the only one that I still had yet to burn!

Poor Marie!

For those of you who know, I watch Dancing with the Stars diligently. My mom and her side of the family have always watched it, and I made fun of my mom all the time. This year because of Bret and school, I have found myself drawn into this show. This is the one season that my mom has not watched it... just for her I am posting this.
Many of you have probably seen this so many times, but when I watched it live, it really was quite scary. I do not have a favorite on the show and have never voted before, but today I voted for poor Marie.

Tigger Tales

Where to begin... Wow what a crazy last few days. Wednesday was Jayson's very last football game of the season, they played Bingham and lost 33-7. The touchdown that CHHS made was one that would have made ESPN's top 10 list! I really have enjoyed the last 2 months and going to each one of his games! I am really going to miss having something to look forward to on Thursday afternoons, it was the one thing that I looked forward to the most each week.

CHHS @ Hillcrest Jayson's first game

They ended their season with a 6-3 record. Pretty good I do have to say! I am really proud of him and the accomplishments that he has made just this year alone as a football player!

Thursday I went to 'girls night' for the first time with some ladies from the ward. It was a lot of fun to sit and talk with everyone and laugh about the silly things our kids do. It was a great escape for me... Thursday was not the best day for me.

Friday Bret and I went and we donated blood. This was the first time that I had ever donated before, I do have to admit I was a little nervous. (although I would never tell that to Bret) It was quite the experience. I know that I have fair skin and that my veins are deep and hard to find, but I guess I figured that since the people taking my blood do this on a daily basis they would have no problem with getting a vein! BOY OH BOY WAS I WRONG!!! The girl taking my blood said that she found a vein, and she poked me and it hurt worse than having a baby! So I knew she didn't find a vein. she fished and fished, then someone else fished and fished and then a 3rd person gave it a try. And they never could find it and I could feel tingling in my fingers, so they stopped. I of course didn't want to give up at that point.

I mean I had waited for 2 hours to give blood, by dang I was giving blood. So they sent me over to someone else and she found my vein faster than anyone that I can ever remember! 5 minutes and 38 seconds later I had donated blood. And all that I could think about afterwards was eating dinner! That night I made the mistake of letting McKinley fall asleep in our bed, 8:30 the next morning I found her crawling all over me. So McKinley was lucky enough to spend all night in bed with Mom and Dad, it wont ever (fingers crossed) happen again.

Saturday I had a bridal shower to go to for Bret's cousin. It was nice, I got to put my mad Text Twist skills to use by playing a game with the letters of their names, and I won a cute pumpkin dish from Tai Pan. (with Robyn's help) Saturday night Bret and I were lazy, we stayed up and got caught up on all of our favorite TV shows, while we ate our favorite food, Del Taco! It is amazing how spending time, even if it is just cuddling on the couch watching dumb TV, it helps me relax and be so happy that Bret is in my life. I am one lucky girl!

Sunday after church, Bret had meetings. I told him to let the bishop know that he had to leave early because we had family plans to celebrate Micheal's (my brother in law) birthday. As many of you know I HATE Bret's after church auxiliary meetings! They just seem to be never ending and although I should be supportive I have come up with ways to make sure that he is not there all afternoon. I told a few people in the ward that I was going to start calling the bishops office when his meetings were supposed to be over and tell the bishop that his time with Bret was over and he was cutting into our family time now and to send him home. I, of course, was half joking. Well because church got out late and meetings started late, I told Bret that I would just wait for him to leave. I thought that meant at like 1, well he didnt come out at 1 and my neighbor asked if I would like a ride home. I got all of our stuff and rode home with my neighbor. After arriving home I realized that Bret had the keys so McKinley and I were locked out of the house. I went back to the neighbors and asked to use the phone. I was SO embarrassed, but I called the bishops office and had Bret come home to unlock the door. I know that half of the people in the meeting were wondering if that was because I really was locked out or if it was because I just wanted him home. Truth be told it was a little of both!

Later that night we got out our bouncing Tigger for McKinley, I figured that she was finally old enough to actually like it. We video taped it on the camera, I wanted to post it because I thought that it was SO cute. Although it is sideways (I cant figure out how to rotate it without buying a program so if any of you know how please let me know) So enjoy it without any sound and sideways! lol

All in all it was a pretty good weekend!
And Happy 27th Birthday Mike!!
